چکیده

Background One of the major mediators ischemic neuronal cell death is calcium. It has been found that elevated serum calcium associated with a better prognosis in patients stroke. This study highlights association calcium, albumin-corrected and ionic size acute stroke as well severity outcome terms National Institutes Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score Barthel Index. Methods cross-sectional was conducted on 85 cases (based computerized tomography scan brain) from September 2019 to October 2021. All included had undergone complete clinical history, systemic examination, estimation total albumin corrected NIHSS Index were used access each subject. Results A significant positive correlation seen between infarct coefficient 0.35. negative -0.483, -0.354, -0.365 respectively. No 0.082. Conclusion can be concluded higher normal levels are smaller-sized less index among

Association of Serum Calcium Levels with Infarct Size in Acute Ischemic Stroke: Observations from Northeast India

BACKGROUND Calcium is known to be major mediator in ischemic neuronal cell death. Recent studies have shown that elevated serum calcium levels at admission in patients with stroke have been associated with less severe clinical deficits and with better outcomes. AIM The aim of this to determine the correlation between serum calcium (total, corrected, and ionized) and infarct size (IS) in patie...

Association of serum magnesium levels with risk factors, severity and prognosis in ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke patients

Background: Stroke is the third leading cause of mortality worldwide. One of the factors that affect the occurrence of stroke can be attributed to changes in the levels of trace elements. Accumulating evidence has been shown that magnesium, as an important element, is a new predictor of stroke. We aimed to determine the levels of Mg in ischemic stroke patients in comparison with those having th...

Serum levels of vitamins A and D, and zinc in children with acute diarrhea: A cross-sectional study

Background: Diarrhea is a leading cause of mortality and morbidity during the early life period especially in developing countries. Micronutrients deficiencies have been proposed either as a risk factor or a consequence of diarrhea. Association studies highlight the relation of vitamins and minerals’ deficiencies with acute diarrhea. In this regard we aimed to evaluate the status of vitamins ...

Serum YKL-40 Levels Correlate with Infarct Volume, Stroke Severity, and Functional Outcome in Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE YKL-40 is associated with various neurological disorders. However, circulatory YKL-40 levels early after onset of acute ischemic stroke (AIS) have not been systematically assessed. We aimed to identify the temporal changes and clinical usefulness of measuring serum YKL-40 immediately following AIS. METHODS Serum YKL-40 and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels were monitored ...

Association of early CT abnormalities, infarct size, and apparent diffusion coefficient reduction in acute ischemic stroke.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Diffusion-weighted (DW) imaging is more sensitive for early ischemia than CT, and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) mapping permits quantification of the severity of cytotoxic edema. We examined the relationship between early CT findings, ischemic lesion volume on DW images, and edema subtype. METHODS Patients in whom early signs of ischemia were detected on baseline...
